The awaited spin-off of the famous series shall be entirely post-produced at Antaviana Films
Shooting of the awaited spin-off “Merlí: sapere laude” reaches its equator this week. Filmming started last 20th May and shall continue until almost the end of July, with locations at University of Barcelona, the Gothic Quarter, the Raval and Barcelona’s beach.
This season’s main character will be Pol (Carlos Cuevas), Merlí’s favourite student, who’s now back in the classrooms starting his philosophy studies, months after Merlí’s death, which is exactly the point with which the original series ended.
“Merlí” is an original series produced by Catalan Television and Veranda TV. Its original three seasons broadcasted by Catalan TV, were a big “prime time” success with a quota of a 22% audience share. “Merlí: sapere laude” is now being produced by Movistar in collaboration with TV3 which shall preserve the essence of the original series.
This fiction shall also be written by Héctor Lozano, and will be also produced by Veranda TV and will have the same creative and technical team as the previous three seasons in order to maintain the “Merlí” label, which is so much appreciated by the original series’ fans.
