Carles Bosch’s documentary about the famous gipsy musician has been post-produced at Antaviana Films
The 21st Edition of the DocsBarceolona International Film Festival will open with the film “Petitet” by Carles Bosch, director who was nominated to the Oscars in 2003 with his documentary “Balseros”. “Petitet” has been produced by Lastor Media and Turkana Films in co-production with Catalan Television TV3. It has been post-produced at Antaviana Films.
This new documentary by Carles Bosch, scripted by himself and David Vidal, tells the story of how musician Joan Ximénez Petitet followed up his dream: the promise he made to his mother before she died to bring Catalan rumba to a big theatre stage. In spite of all difficulties, coupled with his strange illness, the promise starts to take shape when he eventually manages to reunite a group of fantastic but undisciplined gipsy musicians to play alongside the Gran Teatre del Liceu’s (Barcelona’s Opera House) symphony orchestra.
DocsBarcelona will take place between the 16th and 27th May.
